Phyto-Aromatherapy (herbal medicine)

Phyto-Aromatherapy

Phyto-aromatherapy is the art of healing through plants. The use of plants as a remedy to cure ailments, whether on a physical level or on a more subtle level, is common to all cultures and its origin dates back to the dawn of time. For thousands of years, plants have been the sole source of medicine.

And then, Western man developed the so-called scientific approach and from that point on he was mainly interested in the active ingredients contained in plants. He began to extract them and reproduce them to make drugs. And over the years, humans started to consume more chemical drugs and less plants.

In recent years, however, we have seen a return to more natural solutions. It is in this context that phyto-aromatherapy, but also gemmotherapy, have developed considerably.

Phytotherapy, or herbal medicine as it is sometimes called in English, traditionally includes aromatherapy, i.e. the use of essential oils.

Essential oils are extracted from aromatic plants, most often by steam distillation. These oils are therefore very powerful and a minimum of precaution is necessary in their use. Indeed, “natural” does not necessarily mean “without danger”.

Many essential oils have recognized anti-infectious and anti-viral properties.

Today we are witnessing a renewed interest in natural remedies. Plants have many qualities that help relieve ailments, small and less small; and also help prevent themThis said, the law requires me to clarify that consulting a phytotherapist does not exempt from the need to seek medical advice if you have a health issue; and plants are not a substitute for prescription drugs.
